Summary
Assessment of the quality of the life became increasingly relevant in evaluating the many health care interventions which aim to prevent, cure, or alleviate the effects of diseases and conditions which are not life-threatening.  The objective of this research was to evaluate the quality of life if hypertensive patients on treatment.
Seventy six hypertensive patients visiting the South Iskan Primary Health Care Center and Diabetes and Hypertension Center, using a preset questionnaire interviewed during the period of four months.
The quality of life of hypertensive patients was generally good (the total mean was 4.19, while the range was 1-6).  Men generally showed higher mean throughout all indexes and global quality of life scores.
Blood pressure controlled in 25% of patients only.  This affect patient’s quality of life in many indexes as general perceived health, disease specific health perception, general health status and quality of life.  About 69% of women and 60% of men had body mass index ≥ 30 kg/m2.
Establishment of an agreed system for the treatment of hypertension, stress in non pharmacological aspect in management of hypertensive patients and conduct a study to measure quality of life of healthy people were recommended.
